Kofi Anna conratulates Gambia's president elect, lauds president Jammeh for conceding defeat

Former UN Secretary-General and Ghana's most remarkable diplomat has sent in his congratulatory message to the president elect ; Adama Barrow who defeated the incumbent president, Jammeh to become the president-elect of Gambia in the just concluded presidential election.
Kofi however, urged both parties to
ensure a peaceful handing over that will strengthen the unity and democracy of Gambia.

"The people of the Gambia have spoken. I extend my congratulations to
president-elect Barrow and commend the current President Jammeh for
conceding defeat, enabling what we all hope will be a peaceful transfer
of power. Handing over the reigns of the country's highest office in a
spirit of cooperation and peace will strengthen democracy in the Gambia
and in the entire region. I bid President Jammeh farewell and wish him
well for his future endeavors".
