Lassa Fever: Death Toll Rises To 43 From 91 Suspected Cases-Minister.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the federal government on Friday put the death toll at 40 out of 86 reported cases of Lassa fever outbreak in same 10 states. The number of the suspected cases also rose from 86 last week to 93. Prof. Isaac Adewole, the Minister of Health, confirmed this in Abuja on Tuesday at a joint ministerial news conference on the update of the outbreak of the disease. However, Adewole said there were no new confirmed cases or death in the last 48 hours. He did not disclose the state from which the additional life was lost. ``In the last 48 hours the government raised a four-man expert committee, chaired by Prof. Michael Asuzu, to visit Kano, Niger and Bauchi, the three most endemic states. ``The committee will embark on a fact finding mission, assess the current situation, document response experiences, identify gaps and proffer recommendations on how to prevent future occurrences,’’ he said. PDP Fires Back At Sylva, You Will Lose At Tribunals.

Sylva Timipre The director of publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jonathan Obuebite,  has advised the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just concluded polls, Timipre Sylva, to accept his defeat affirming that  “he would still lose at the tribunals.” According to Thisday, Obuebite noted that any decision to contest the election at the tribunals would end in  “futility.” He maintained that the APC candidate  “was not expecting to win at all”  adding that he was seen clubbing in three different night clubs after the results were announced. He said:  “Sylva after losing the election went clubbing and drinking Hennessy with friends in all the three clubs he attended yesterday (Sunday). How can a man who just lost election attend a club if he was expecting to win?
