Senate Confirms Babatunde Fowler As FIRS Chairman.

Fowler confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Finance which screened him. According to the chairman of the committee, Senator John Owna Enoh, who presented the report urged the Senate to confirm the appointment of Fowler, The Nation reports. Contributing on the debate, Senator Gbenga Ashafa told his colleagues that base on the antecedent of Fowler, he believed that his appointment is the right direction. Ashafa noted that Fowler was able to increase the internally generated fund of Lagos state to a great height which shows he will be able to do same if not more for the nation. The senator from Lagos East Senatorial district added that he had no doubt that Fowler would help the federal government to reform it tax collection system. Troops Intercepts, Kill Fleeing Boko Haram Terrorists

Nigerian Troops have intercepted and killed many Boko Haram terrorists while trying to escape the onslaught on the Sambisa forest. In a statement, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, on Wednesday, said the insurgents were `` decisively dealt with” while trying to escape through Pulka. He said many of the terrorists were killed during the encounter, while one of them was captured alive. Usman said the soldiers also recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun, several rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions, 47 rifle magazines, 36 hand grenades `` and quite a number of Shilka gun empty shells”. He said troops had, on Wednesday, also recovered a Toyota Hilux vehicle , 2 boxes of 7.62mm ammunitions ``and some Improvised Explosives making Devices cords’’ during an encounter in Buni Yadi general area.  NAN.

DG Warns Corpers Against Unofficial Movement Out Of Camp.

Wamakko (Sokoto State), Dec. 4, 2015 (NAN) Director-General of National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Johnson Bamidele, has warned corps members across Nigeria to desist from unnecessary and all unauthorised journeys Bamidele gave the warning when he addressed 2015 Batch B, stream 2 corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Wamakko on Friday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the corps members are undergoing three-week orientation. Bamidele, represented by Mr Yakubu Jok, Director of Special Duties, said some corps members lost their lives in auto crashes in recent times. ''This is a nationwide phenomenon which must urgently stop and corps members should only travel when it is necessary and approved.
