Ayodele Fayose- Governor, Ekiti State |
Faulting media reports insinuating his planned exit from the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State yesterday
cleared the air, saying he has not decided to dump the party for the
All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2018 governorship election
in the state.
Describing the reports as misinterpretation of facts, he clarified:
“What I said is that if the current man-made crisis rocking the PDP
persists till 2018, rather than allow them mess us up like they did in
Ondo, we may have to seek an alternative and credible platform. We are
not people who betray the confidence of our people. If there will be
change at all, it will not be spur-of-the-moment. We shall carry our
leaders and the people along.”
Speaking at the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe while
being conferred with the ‘Outstanding Achiever of Our Time’ award by
Ado Progressive Union, the governor pledged that he would not dump the
party for the APC under any guise.
“I will never dump PDP for APC. I remain strong and unshaken for the party. I cannot jump the boat. Even if I want to jump, I would not jump into the red sea.”
Earlier yesterday, Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong cautioned
Fayose against crossing over to the ruling party.Lalong, who spoke at
the North Central Congress of the APC convoked to pick persons to fill
vacant national positions, said the party was determined to win the
reruns in Rivers and Anambra states.
