The governor of Imo state, Okorocha and chairman of the Progressive Governor's forum  (PGF) attributed the victory of the APC in the just concluded Ondo gubernatorial election to party's popularity and the support of the masses to the presidency despite the hit of recession in the country.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday congratulated the governor-elect, Rotimi Akeredolu on his victory at the poll.
The governor said the success was a sign that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was popular in the southwest.

A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secreatry, Sam Onwuemeodo, said the ‘’wide margin with which the APC’s candidate defeated the contenders of other political parties, showed that Nigerians understood the circumstances that gave rise to the recession that the country is currently passing through. “Those who thought that the recession would affect the electoral fortunes of the APC have now seen that they were wrong.’’

Okorocha expressed appreciation to the people for Akeredolu’s “resounding victory,” which showed their knowledge in ‘’interpreting political development and how richly they are endowed with wisdom.”
“The voters’ decision to be part of the APC-led government at the centre was commendable. With their votes, the people have passed a vote of confidence in the Buhari’s government.”
He promised that Akeredolu’s administration would not disappoint the people, irrespective of their political leanings.
